AOLeave - Mailbox
This tool works with the limited data I have. It is 'alpha' quality only. It is quite possible it will fail with your data! I have done little with it in a while. I have a fairly sophisticated PFC file which I can successfully convert. I am not sure I can take this any further without additional test data.
If you are here and wish to be an 'alpha' tester I ask that;
a: You let me know if it worked or not
b: You do not distribute these programs - please refer people to this site
c: Additionally, if you are comfortable with sharing your data with me (and I totally understand why you would not want to share your email with me), contact me via email so we can arrange how to transmit the data. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT want to receive PFC files as email attachments.
d: Keep an eye on this date - 19th Feb 2001 - this is the last time this page was updated. If the date has changed, I have made changes to the program.
You have my assurance (for what it's worth), that I have no interest in the contents of your PFC file beyond troubleshooting this program. If, (and only if!), you are comfortable with this, go ahead and download the files. As with the other AOLeave tools, the Java runtime (or SDK) is required.
The files you need are;
MailBox.class
MessageParser.class
AddressBook.class
TocFile.class
The program works on the main PFC file in the 'organize' subdirectory under the main AOL installation directory. This file is typically named the same as your screenname. I suggest you COPY the PFC file to a directory containing the Java classes and run from there.
The command to run it is;
java MailBox yourpfcfilename
This will (hopefully) create 3 files;
aolmail.mbx, aolmail.toc, descmap.pce
Place these files in a \Eudora folder.
You can import this data into Outlook (or Outlook Express), Netscape, Eudora, others? It will create an aolmail folder containing all messages (incoming and outgoing).
